Frog Song Organics Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
Membership Information – Terms & Policies
Effective for Memberships beginning on or after July 1, 2015
CSA is a partnership between community members and the farmers that feed them. Members make a financial or work commitment to the farm, and together we produce high quality produce grown in an ecologically and socially responsible manner. All fresh fruits and vegetables are from our farm and are Certified Organic to USDA standards by Quality Certification Services. 100% of the fresh produce is grown on our farm. We are not a buying club. If we ever needed to substitute anything due to an extreme weather event, we would inform you of exactly where the item came from. We do partner with another producer to provide eggs, and the cartons are labeled as to the source. We value transparency and authenticity in food sourcing.
General Info – What the Farm provides:
- Individual Shares – At least 7 items each week
- Family Shares – At least 13 items each week
- Weekly email newsletter listing your produce and recipes on how to use produce
- Re-useable plastic tote or wax box for your share which must be returned each week.
We are currently transitioning to durable, re-useable totes from wax boxes. We may charge up to $20 for replacement of each reusable crate if they are not returned. Wax boxes may be reused several times, but eventually they wear out and are not recyclable. You may also bring your own bag to take home the items in your share.
- Access to where your food is grown and the people who grow it. The farm is always open to member visits by appointment or on scheduled farm tour days.
Your membership is an investment in the farm. We will do our absolute best to produce a wide selection of high quality produce for you throughout the course of your membership. In the event of crop failure due to weather or pest issues, the quality, quantity, and selection of produce available may vary. We cannot guarantee the availability of a specific crop on a specific date. If crops are less abundant in one given week, we will aim to make up for the value of your box in a future distribution, so that you receive the full value of your membership over the course of the season. The value of each box week to week may not be exactly equivalent. Our goal is to make the value of the food you receive during the period of your membership equal to or greater than the cost of the membership, based on farmers market prices. When we have abundance of an item, you will see more of it in your box. When particular items are less abundant, your share of those items may be smaller.
We may be able to accommodate some restrictions if you inform the CSA coordinator by email at the time you join of the item you cannot consume. If it is more than one or two types of produce, we do not recommend participation in a CSA membership program. Instead, we encourage you to shop for what you want at the market.
We are not able to custom pack boxes for each member based on personal preference.
If you pick up at farmers market location, members may request to exchange one item from your box for another item of equal pricing, from the market stock. If you pick up at a workplace or school, swap boxes are not available and we recommend trading items with other CSA members.
Your share will be available for pick up each week during the day and time you select. Unclaimed shares will not be held past your scheduled pick up time. You are welcome to arrange for family or friends to pick up your share for you, you do not need to inform us. Just send them to claim your share.
You may schedule a “delivery hold” with a minimum of three-day notice to cancel any distribution and receive credit for the value of that week’s share. You may email us to schedule the hold. Credit may be used to purchase fresh produce and other goods from the farm until the end of your membership period. If unused before the end of your membership period, it may be rolled over and applied for a future membership.
Credit expires two months after the end of your CSA membership.
Flowers, Egg Shares and Extra Item Add-Ons
You may add items to your CSA share using the online ordering system (coming soon).
Payment is due in full at the time you join. If you would like to make installments, or are using EBT/SNAP, please contact us to make special arrangements.
Minimum Registration Requirements
We require a minimum registration of 12 members to serve most pick up locations. In the event that your selected site does not reach the minimum number of members, you may choose to receive a refund for your share or select a different pick up location.
No refunds are available for CSA memberships or unclaimed shares. If you miss a pick-up you do not receive double the next week. We will donate unclaimed shares to local shelters/service providers, farm staff, delivery site hosts, or volunteers. Memberships are transferable to other people. If a weekly pick up becomes impossible for you, you may transfer the balance of your share to Credit and use it to shop at the farmers market.
*In the event that extenuating circumstances result in a refund, the refund will be for the membership fees paid less any credit card/electronic processing fees, and a $20 processing fee for each season cancelled to cover staff time.
*In the event that we have to cancel delivery service to your location, you have the option to receive a refund for the remaining value of your share or switch to another location.
Workplace Delivery Sites
You may receive a refund if you are no longer employed at the pick up site. You may also opt to change your pick up location to continue receiving your share.
If you move out of state or have an extenuating circumstance, please contact us as we may be able to make exceptions to this policy.
