Frog Song Organics Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
Membership Agreement – Terms & Policies
Effective for Farmers Choice & Your Choice Memberships, 2020-2021
CSA is a partnership between community members and the farmers that feed them. Members make a commitment to the farm (financial or work), and together we produce high quality produce grown in an ecologically and socially responsible manner.
All fresh fruits and vegetables in our CSA are certified organic. We value transparency and integrity in food sourcing. For many years, our CSA was 100% grown at our farm. Recently, we have expanded our sourcing to include certified organic partner farms in Florida, all of which are identified on our web store. For Summer 2020, we have a new partnership with New Sprout Organic Farms based out of Asheville, North Carolina to allow us to offer a wider selection of certified organic food to our members and continue our CSA into the summer. While it is a break from tradition, our goal is that stable revenue during the summer will allow us to be more sustainable overall and offer more stable year-round employment to our staff.
Our eggs and meat are not certified organic. We raise them using organic, soy-free feed and lots of vegetable scraps, and rotate them weekly onto fresh pasture.
General Info – What the Farm provides:
We have two types of shares, both of which support the farm and provide you with great produce! All members have access to where your food is grown and the people who grow it. The farm is open to member visits by appointment or on scheduled farm tour days.
1) Pre Paid Your Choice Memberships
Make a one-time payment of $500 to the farm, and then place orders when you want to receive food. The orders are paid for using the credit until it expires. This option is best for people who want to select their own items. You can select from any item offered in our online store. The minimum order will be $35-$50 depending on your pickup/delivery location.
2) Farmer’s Choice Seasonal Membership
Make a one-time payment (cost varies depending on your pick up/delivery location) and receive a weekly box of the “farmer’s choice.” This option is best for people who enjoy cooking with almost any type of produce. There are no substitutions or changes to contents of the “farmer’s choice” box. Farmer’s Choice members receive:
- Individual Shares – Receive seven to nine items each week
- Family Shares – Double the items in the Individual Share
- Weekly email newsletter listing your produce and recipes on how to use produce
- If you receive a green re-useable plastic tote for your share, please make sure to returned each week. There is a $12 charge for each green tote that is not returned before the end of the season. You may also bring your own bag to take home the items in your share and unload at the pick up location.
Your membership is an investment in the farm. We will do our absolute best to produce a wide selection of high quality produce for you throughout the course of your membership. In the event of crop failure due to weather or pest issues, the quality, quantity, and selection of produce available may vary. We cannot guarantee the availability of a specific crop on a specific date. If crops are less abundant in one given week, we will aim to make up for the value of your box in a future distribution, so that you receive the full value of your membership over the course of the season. The value of each box week to week will not be exactly the same. When we have abundance of an item, you will see more of it in your box. When particular items are less abundant, your share of those items may be smaller. In past years, members have enjoyed a “dividend” of 5%-10% on the produce they received as compared to what they paid over the course of the season, using farmers market prices.
If you cannot or will not eat a wide variety of produce, we do not recommend participation in a CSA membership program. Instead, we encourage you to shop for what you want at the market or use our online custom ordering option (Pre-Paid Your Choice Membership).
*Please note we are not able to accommodate special requests for Farmer’s Choice boxes or make substitutions. If you want to select the items in your box, please use the web store to select exactly the items you would like.
If you would like to choose your own items, please place customized orders online anytime you wish, using a credit card or join using Pre-Paid Your Choice Credit.
Your share will be available for pick up each week only during the day and time you select. Unclaimed shares will not be held past your scheduled pick up time, and our pick up host locations are not responsible for your share after the designated time. You are welcome to arrange for family or friends to pick up your share for you, you do not need to inform us. Simply send them to claim your share.
You may schedule a “delivery hold” by email with a minimum of two-day notice to cancel any distribution and receive credit for the value of that week’s share. Log into your account to schedule a hold. Go into your shopping cart and select “CANCEL ORDER.” It will only cancel your order for that week. Each week, the shopping period “opens” on Friday morning for the following week. You may cancel anytime between FRIDAY morning and your order deadline.
For example, if your pick up is on Wednesday, the hold deadline is Monday. Credit may be used to purchase fresh produce and other goods from the farm until the end of the season. You can add these items on in the online store.
Flowers, Egg Shares and Extra Item Add-Ons
You may add items such as pickles, flowers, eggs, etc on a one-time basis to your CSA share using the online ordering system. The order deadline is two days before your pick up. You must have a credit card on file to pay for add-on items, which we will run after you have received the item. Please do not leave payments with pick up sites.
Payments: Payment is due in full at the time you join.
Minimum Registration Requirements
We require a minimum registration of 12 members to serve most pick up locations. In the event that your selected site does not reach the minimum number of members, you may choose to receive a refund for your share or select a different pick up location. The host site receives a complimentary share for providing the pick up location.
No refunds are available for CSA memberships or unclaimed shares. If you miss a pick-up you do not receive double the next week. We will donate unclaimed shares to local shelters/service providers, farm staff meals, delivery site hosts, or volunteers. Memberships are transferable to other people. If a weekly pick up becomes impossible for you, you may transfer the balance of your share to Credit and use it to shop at the farmers market or order online.
*In the event that extenuating circumstances result in a refund, the refund will be for the membership fees paid less any credit card/electronic processing fees, and a $20 processing fee for each season cancelled to cover administrative staff time.
*In the event that we have to cancel delivery service to your location, you have the option to receive a refund for the remaining value of your share or switch to another location.
Workplace Delivery Sites
You may receive a refund if you are no longer employed at the pick up site. You may also opt to change your pick up location to continue receiving your share.
If you move out of state or have an extenuating circumstance, please contact us as we may be able to make exceptions to this policy on a limited basis.
