Happy Solstice! As we approach the shortest day of the year we’re grateful for all our customers who support us during times of abundance and hardship. Last week we saw the largest rainfall event yet this season. During the prolonged frontal passage on Friday we had anywhere from a light sprinkle to a full-on deluge, which saturated our soil and caused unwanted run-off. Many of our small-seeded crops were impacted by the torrential rain but we’re celebrating those that made it through the catastrophe. We’re looking at even more rain this week. We’ll be working hard the next few days to dry out our soil and get some more beds shaped so we can continue planting through the next few weeks (even if the soil is too wet to work).
While the rain keeps falling we’ll be completing our 2018 crop of sugar cane syrup. We harvested over a ton of cane last week and we’re learning the artisanal method of producing the finest red syrup for you all to enjoy for the holidays. Thank you again to all our customers for supporting us during times of challenging weather. We’re looking forward to an abundant Spring Season for you all, hopefully beginning in January!
