CSA is a partnership between community members and the farmers that feed them. Members make a commitment to the farm, and together we produce high quality produce grown in an ecologically and socially responsible manner. We value transparency and integrity in food sourcing, and we thank you for supporting your local food system.
We are a farm-based CSA, and our goal is to grow as much of the food in your share on our own farm here in Alachua County. We work with other partner growers to offer more variety to you.
MEMBERSHIP TYPES
We have two types of memberships, both of which support the farm and provide you with great produce! All members have access to where your food is grown and the people who grow it. The farm is open to member visits by appointment or on scheduled farm tour days.
1) Pre Paid Your Choice Memberships
Make a one-time payment of $500 to the farm, and then place orders when you want to receive food. The orders are paid for using the credit until it expires. This option is best for people who want to select their own items. You can select from any item offered in our online store.
Gainesville area and pickup locations – $40 minimum order
Orlando home delivery – $50 minimum order
2) Farmer’s Choice Seasonal Memberships: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
Make a one-time payment (cost varies depending on your pick up/delivery location) and receive a weekly box of the “farmer’s choice.” This option is best for people who enjoy cooking with almost any type of produce. There are no substitutions or changes to contents of the “farmer’s choice” box. Farmer’s Choice members receive:
Individual Shares – Receive seven to nine items each week
Family Shares – Double the items in the Individual Share
Weekly email newsletter listing your produce and recipes on how to use produce
If you receive a green re-useable plastic tote for your share, please make sure to return each week. You may also bring your own bag to take home the items in your share and unload at the pick up location.
Partner Producers
In 2020 we began sourcing items to diversify our CSA from partner producers who are either certified organic or using organic growing methods. In the main season (fall, winter, and spring) your items will come from Florida producers. In the summer season, some items will come from North Carolina due to their cooler growing conditions. We will identify the source of each item in your weekly member email. All of the produce grown at our farm in Alachua County, FL is USDA certified organic by Quality Certification Services. Our eggs, chicken and pork are not certified. They are raised on our farm, rotated on fresh pasture, and receive organic, soy-free feed. All products that we carry are produced without synthetic fertility, herbicides or pesticides, and are foods we trust to feed to our own family. You can select only certified organic items, or only items grown in Florida by using our customized order feature or Pre-Paid Credit Membership. Please note that only items grown in Florida are eligible for FAB (Fresh Access Bucks) grant matching.
Your membership is an investment in the farm. We will do our absolute best to produce a wide selection of high quality produce for you throughout the course of your membership. In the event of crop failure due to weather or pest issues, the quality, quantity, and selection of produce available may vary. We cannot guarantee the availability of a specific crop on a specific date. If crops are less abundant in one given week, we will aim to make up for the value of your box in a future distribution, so that you receive the full value of your membership over the course of the season. The value of each box week to week may not be exactly equivalent. Our goal is to make the value of the food you receive during your membership season equal to or greater than the cost of the membership, based on farmers market prices. When we have abundance of an item, you will see more of it in your box. When particular items are less abundant, your share of those items may be smaller.
Your share will be available for pick up each week only during the day and time you select. Unclaimed shares will not be held past your scheduled pick up time and credits/refunds will not be issued for missed pick-ups. You are welcome to send family or friends to pick up your share for you, you do not need to inform us.
You may schedule a “delivery hold” by email with a minimum of two-day notice to cancel any distribution and receive credit for the value of that week’s share. If you know ahead of time when you will be out of town, Log into your account to schedule a hold. Go into your shopping cart and select “CANCEL ORDER.” It will only cancel your order for that week.
For example, if your pick up is on Wednesday, the hold deadline is Monday. Credit may be used to purchase fresh produce and other goods from the farm until the end of your membership period. If unused before the end of your membership period, it may be rolled over and applied for a future membership.
Reusable CSA Boxes
When you join the CSA, you are allocated two (2) green, plastic reusable boxes that your share will arrive in each week. Please return this reusable box to your pick-up location each week so that it may be cleaned and re-used for the following week’s delivery. If we do not receive your reusable boxes (2) back by the end of the season, you authorize Frog Song Organics to charge your credit card on file $24 for the cost of the boxes ($12 each).
Please Note: Your credit expires 12 months after purchase. You can roll existing credit onto your next season renewal.
Pre-Paid Your Choice
Credit expires one year from purchase.
Egg Shares and Extra Item Add-Ons to the Farmer’s Choice Box
You may add items such as pickles, jam, coffee, eggs, etc on a one-time basis to your CSA share using the online ordering system. The order deadline is two days before your pick up. You must have a credit card on file to pay for add-on items, which we will run after you have received the item. Members are responsible their perishable items after delivery and we cannot guarantee exact delivery times. Please leave a cooler with ice packs if you will not be home.
Payments: Payment is due in full at the time you join.
SNAP payment: We can accept SNAP payments, and utilize the Fresh Access Bucks matching program for a discounted rate. To pay with SNAP, please call our office to set up your account. SNAP payments will be made weekly for the duration of your membership. **Each SNAP payment will be for one half of the current week of distributions, and the FAB matching grant will pay for the other half.
Refunds/Cancellations
No refunds are available for CSA memberships or unclaimed shares. If you miss a pick-up you do not receive double the next week. We will donate unclaimed shares to local shelters/service providers, farm staff meals, delivery site hosts, or volunteers. Memberships are transferable to other people. If a weekly pick up becomes impossible for you, you may transfer the balance of your share to Credit and use it to shop at the farmers market or order online.
*In the event that extenuating circumstances result in a refund, the refund will be for the membership fees paid less any credit card/electronic processing fees, and a $20 processing fee for each season cancelled to cover administrative staff time.
*In the event that we have to cancel delivery service to your location, you have the option to receive a full refund for the remaining value of your share or switch to another location.
