This week we are sharing the love with you! Each CSA box will hold a small calendula bouquet. Calendula is a beautiful flower. The flower has many uses besides providing a beautiful bouquet. Calendula is the plant, the flower is used to make the medicine. The flower is used to prevent muscle spasms, start menstrual periods and reduce fever. It is also used for treating sore throat, mouth, menstrual cramps, cancer and stomach ulcers. The flower can be used to make a healing salve that can reduce pain, swelling and treat poorly healing wounds.

The petals are edible and can be used in salads to add color. The petals have a light taste like that of a cucumber. The petals can be dried and used to replace saffron in cooking.
